Meet Wilfredo. When he first reached out, he described himself the way many multi-passionate professionals do. Ambitious, talented, full of ideas, and deeply overwhelmed.
As he explained:
“I had so many ideas that I wanted to work on, and I felt like I was in the middle and all these ideas were swirling around me. I didn’t know which one to grasp onto.”
He had recently left a job that no longer aligned with him, moved across the country, and entered a season of exploration without a clear plan. A friend who completed the Purpose Driven Career Accelerator referred him, knowing he needed clarity, grounding, and structure.
What happened next was a personal and professional transformation rooted in self-awareness, aligned action, and a rediscovery of who he really was.
The Turning Point: From Overwhelm to Reconnection
When Wilfredo began the program, he admitted that he was unsure of what to expect.
“I really didn’t know what to expect… I didn’t know that you were going to blend strategy with deep personal growth. It was more than just finding a job. It was about reconnecting with who I really am.”
This reconnection became the foundation for everything that followed.
“From there, we built the foundation… no matter what I do moving forward, I have that foundation.”
Through values work, motivators, passions, and guided exploration, he began seeing themes, especially his need for stability, community, and creative expression.
Leaving a Job That No Longer Fit
Before coaching, Wilfredo had been a financial adviser at Fidelity. He enjoyed helping people, but the burnout became impossible to ignore.
“I was burning through people. I was just burnt out. Working from home for four years made me feel disconnected from society and even disconnected from myself.”
This was one of the first patterns that surfaced in our coaching work. He missed people, routine, energy, and simple human connection. He also missed the version of himself that thrived in community.
Exploring His Passions and Creative Identity
During his sabbatical, Wilfredo took a chance on a dream he had been holding onto for years. Turning his poetry into a visual art experience.
“I released a little visual album on YouTube with seven or eight poems layered with music and visuals.”
Creativity had always been in the background, but through our sessions, it moved to the forefront.
We explored his artistic expression, his interest in writing and speaking, and the possibility of becoming an author. He began to imagine a path that honored both his creativity and his need for steadiness.
Then a key realization emerged.
Breakthrough: Stability Fuels Creativity
One theme kept returning during our sessions—the need for stability.
“One of the biggest things I realized, taking time off, was my desire for stability.”
This became the bridge between what he wanted and what he thought he had to choose between.
“I want to be an artist, but I need stability. I don’t want to feel like a starving artist.”
This insight shifted his entire approach. He did not need to choose between creativity and a stable career. He could have both. He just needed a structure that supported it.
Returning to Work With Intention
With this clarity, Wilfredo made a thoughtful decision. He would return to finance, but with a completely new mindset.
“If I want to be an author, then I can go back to a role that I’m very good at. It doesn’t take much effort for me, and it funds my creativity and my projects.”
He applied, interviewed, and landed a role back at Vanguard, the company where he began his career after college.
“I felt like I came back home.”
The transition back to an office setting after a five-year absence was challenging at first, but ultimately meaningful.
“It was extremely difficult to show up at first… but after a while, I love going into work. I love it.”
He rediscovered the connection and structure he had been missing.
Accomplishing His Biggest Goal: Becoming an Author
Before ending our work together, we created a six-month plan for Wilfredo to release his first poetry book. Clear milestones. Weekly checkpoints. A real structure he could rely on.
“I asked you to help me because I struggle with executive function, and we were able to come up with a plan to release my poetry book.”
The target date was October 15.
He hit it early.
“I texted you on October 13 and said it is coming out on time, on schedule.”
His debut book, Dewey Brown Eyes Heal, is now out in the world. It is already deeply resonating with readers.
“I’m getting messages from people saying my poems resonated with them and made them reflect on their own lives. That is exactly what I wanted.”
And he now sees himself clearly.
“I’m full gung ho with my clarity and direction of being an author thanks to our work together.”
What’s Next for Wilfredo
He is continuing to promote his book, considering a launch event, and exploring ideas for future projects.
“I hope to release another book next year that is longer. I have other ideas in mind and I’m really excited for my next journey.”
His stability supports his art.
His art fuels his purpose.
And his clarity anchors it all.
